Andean Highlands Gear (Days 4–6)

  • Thermal Layering: Warm fleece jackets, long-sleeve thermal base layers, and a heavy down or insulated jacket for cold Cusco nights.
  • Outerwear: Windproof and waterproof rain jacket or poncho (essential for unpredictable mountain weather).
  • Pants: Durable hiking pants or breathable trousers.

  • Accessories: Warm wool beanie hat, lightweight gloves, and wool hiking socks.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum group size on this tour?

Apple Travel Peru limits group sizes to a maximum of 12 passengers per departure. This ensures an intimate experience, flexible daily pacing, and direct interaction with your expert guides across all three regions.

How does this 9-day tour manage high-altitude acclimatization?

The itinerary builds in a dedicated acclimatization morning in Cusco (3,400 m / 11,150 ft) on Day 4 and moves down into the Sacred Valley (2,870 m / 9,416 ft) on Day 5. This gradual transition helps your body adapt naturally before visiting Machu Picchu. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding heavy meals on arrival, and drinking traditional coca tea.

Are domestic flights included in the total price?

Domestic flights (Lima → Cusco → Puerto Maldonado → Lima) are not included in the standard base price, but Apple Travel Peru coordinates and books them directly for you upon request. We ensure all flight schedules match your tour transfers seamlessly.

Is Apple Travel Peru an officially licensed operator?

Yes. Apple Travel Peru is a fully licensed and registered Peruvian tour operator headquartered in Cusco. All our guides hold professional university degrees in Tourism, Archaeology, or Ecology, with many also speaking Quechua, the native language of the Incas.

What should I expect for accommodations during the trip?

You will stay 6 nights in carefully selected 3-star boutique hotels offering private bathrooms, hot water, Wi-Fi, and daily breakfast. In the Amazon, you will spend 2 nights at a comfortable, sustainable eco-lodge with private rooms, insect screens, and guided excursions included.

Can you accommodate dietary restrictions like vegetarian or vegan?

Yes. We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and allergy-restricted diets. Please notify our team at the time of booking so we can arrange special menus for included restaurant meals and rainforest lodge dining.

What is the baggage allowance for internal flights and jungle river canoes?

Internal domestic flights in Peru permit one checked bag (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs) and one carry-on item. For the 2-night Amazon portion, travelers leave main luggage in secure storage at the Puerto Maldonado base office and pack a smaller duffel bag or daypack for the eco-lodge boat transfers.

Is the Nazca Lines flight safe for travelers prone to motion sickness?

The Nazca flight uses certified 6 to 12-passenger aircraft flown by licensed pilots. Because the planes bank to both sides so all passengers can view the geoglyphs, motion sickness can occur. We recommend taking anti-motion sickness medication 30 minutes before takeoff.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. The initial booking deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations made 15+ days prior to departure incur a 50% deposit forfeiture. Cancellations between 7 and 15 days before departure receive a 50% refund of the total cost if paid in full. No refunds are available for cancellations within 48 hours of departure.

How much cash should I bring for personal expenses and tips?

We recommend bringing approximately $200–$300 USD converted into Peruvian Soles (PEN) in small bills. Cash is necessary for independent meals, local handicrafts, market purchases, and optional tips for drivers, guides, and lodge staff.
