What fitness level is required for the 2-day and 4-day Inca Trail?
The 2-day Inca Trail is moderate and suitable for travelers with a basic fitness level. It involves around 6–7 hours of hiking with some uphill sections. The 4-day Inca Trail is more demanding, with several steep climbs and high-altitude passes reaching over 4,200 m. Good physical condition and prior acclimatization in Cusco are recommended.
How big are the groups?
Group sizes are small, typically between 2 and 8 participants, ensuring personalized attention and a better experience on the trail.
Can I do the Inca Trail without a guide?
No. The Inca Trail can only be done with a licensed guide and an authorized tour operator. Independent hiking is not allowed.
Can I hire a private trip?

What is the best time of year to do the trek?
The best time to hike the Inca Trail is during the dry season, from May to September, when weather conditions are more stable and skies are clear. April and October also offer good weather with fewer crowds. The trail is closed in February for maintenance.

2 day trek to Machu Picchu was so amazing, I only wish I booked the 4 day trek
The 2 day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu was everything I expected and more. Gorgeous from beginning to end. The tour guides were great and very knowledgeable. And if the trek wasn't beautiful enough, Machu Picchu was breathtaking. Thank you to the guides and porters for being so attentive.
