The Essential Peru: Coast, Andes & Amazon – 9 Days
Upon landing at Lima International Airport, an Apple Travel Peru representative meets you for a smooth transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, explore the colonial historic center (Plaza de Armas and the San Francisco Catacombs) before heading down to the coast to experience the bohemian vibes of Barranco and the cliffside walks of Miraflores.
Depart early for a scenic 3.5-hour drive south along the Pan-American Highway to the Paracas Peninsula. Board a speed boat to the Ballestas Islands to view sea lions, penguins, and seabirds before touring the National Reserve’s Red Beach. In the afternoon, head inland to the Huacachina Oasis for a sunset dune buggy ride and optional sandboarding.
Traverse the desert to the Nazca aerodrome for a scenic flight over the enigmatic Nazca Lines geoglyphs. Learn about the ancient theories surrounding these massive ground drawings. Afterward, return toward Lima to catch an evening flight to Cusco, ascending into the crisp Andean air.
Spend your morning relaxing and acclimating to the high altitude (3,400 m / 11,150 ft). In the afternoon, embark on a guided city tour visiting Qorikancha (The Inca Temple of the Sun) and the monumental stone fortresses of Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, and Tambomachay.
Journey through the fertile Urubamba Valley. Visit the colorful Pisac artisan market and hilltop Inca ruins, the concentric agricultural terraces of Moray, and the ancient Maras Salt Mines. Conclude the afternoon in the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo.
Board a scenic tourist train along the rushing Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes. Ascend by shuttle bus to Machu Picchu for a comprehensive 2-hour guided tour of the agricultural terraces, temples, and residential quarters before returning to Cusco by train in the evening.
Fly from the high Andes down to Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon Basin. Transfer by motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to our sustainable eco-lodge. In the afternoon, take a paddleboat excursion across Lake Sandoval to spot howler monkeys, giant river otters, and prehistoric hoatzin birds.
Embark on a morning jungle trek with expert naturalists to learn about medicinal plants, native timber trees, and rainforest ecology. Ascend a 30-meter canopy tower for bird’s-eye views above the treetops before taking an adventurous night walk to spot nocturnal insects, frogs, and wildlife.
Take a final early morning hike along the Tapir Trail to search for jungle wildlife and tracks. Enjoy a final rainforest breakfast before returning by motorized canoe to Puerto Maldonado for your airport transfer and onward flight to Lima.
Apple Travel Peru is a 100% Cusqueñian, family-owned tour operator based directly in Cusco. Operating without corporate shareholders or third-party intermediaries, we deliver authentic, high-quality mountain and jungle adventures while directly reinvesting in our local Andean communities.

Packing for Peru requires preparing for three distinct climate zones: hot coastal deserts, cold mountain altitudes, and warm, humid rainforests.
Apple Travel Peru limits group sizes to a maximum of 12 passengers per departure. This ensures an intimate experience, flexible daily pacing, and direct interaction with your expert guides across all three regions.
The itinerary builds in a dedicated acclimatization morning in Cusco (3,400 m / 11,150 ft) on Day 4 and moves down into the Sacred Valley (2,870 m / 9,416 ft) on Day 5. This gradual transition helps your body adapt naturally before visiting Machu Picchu. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding heavy meals on arrival, and drinking traditional coca tea.
Domestic flights (Lima → Cusco → Puerto Maldonado → Lima) are not included in the standard base price, but Apple Travel Peru coordinates and books them directly for you upon request. We ensure all flight schedules match your tour transfers seamlessly.
Yes. Apple Travel Peru is a fully licensed and registered Peruvian tour operator headquartered in Cusco. All our guides hold professional university degrees in Tourism, Archaeology, or Ecology, with many also speaking Quechua, the native language of the Incas.
You will stay 6 nights in carefully selected 3-star boutique hotels offering private bathrooms, hot water, Wi-Fi, and daily breakfast. In the Amazon, you will spend 2 nights at a comfortable, sustainable eco-lodge with private rooms, insect screens, and guided excursions included.
Yes. We accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, and allergy-restricted diets. Please notify our team at the time of booking so we can arrange special menus for included restaurant meals and rainforest lodge dining.
Internal domestic flights in Peru permit one checked bag (up to 23 kg / 50 lbs) and one carry-on item. For the 2-night Amazon portion, travelers leave main luggage in secure storage at the Puerto Maldonado base office and pack a smaller duffel bag or daypack for the eco-lodge boat transfers.
The Nazca flight uses certified 6 to 12-passenger aircraft flown by licensed pilots. Because the planes bank to both sides so all passengers can view the geoglyphs, motion sickness can occur. We recommend taking anti-motion sickness medication 30 minutes before takeoff.
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing. The initial booking deposit is non-refundable. Cancellations made 15+ days prior to departure incur a 50% deposit forfeiture. Cancellations between 7 and 15 days before departure receive a 50% refund of the total cost if paid in full. No refunds are available for cancellations within 48 hours of departure.
We recommend bringing approximately $200–$300 USD converted into Peruvian Soles (PEN) in small bills. Cash is necessary for independent meals, local handicrafts, market purchases, and optional tips for drivers, guides, and lodge staff.
