Embark on the definitive journey through the Peruvian Altiplano with Apple Travel Peru. This 9-day expedition traces the “Classic Andean Corridor,” a route that transitions from the volcanic “White City” of Arequipa and the vertigo-inducing depths of the Colca Canyon to the sacred blue waters of Lake Titicaca.
As you ascend through the high-altitude plains, you will witness the living traditions of the Uros people and the textile mastery of Taquile Island before reaching Cusco—the navel of the world. The journey culminates in the Sacred Valley and the mist-shrouded peaks of Machu Picchu. This is a comprehensive exploration of Peru’s geographical and cultural soul, curated for travelers who seek to experience the full spectrum of the Andes in a single, seamless narrative.

Southern Andean Legacy: Arequipa, Titicaca & Machu Picchu – 9 Days
Upon arrival, an Apple Travel Peru representative will transfer you to your hotel. In the afternoon, we explore Arequipa’s colonial elegance, including the Main Square and the stunning Santa Catalina Monastery. We conclude with sunset views of the Misti and Chachani volcanoes from the Yanahuara viewpoint.
We head toward Chivay, passing through the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve where wild vicuñas roam. After an afternoon at the canyon viewpoints, we find rejuvenation in the La Calera hot springs.
Early morning at Cruz del Cóndor to watch the world’s largest flying birds catch the thermals. We then begin the scenic drive toward Puno, stopping at Patapampa (4,910m), the highest point of the journey.
A full day on the water. We visit the Uros floating islands—built entirely of totora reeds—and continue to Taquile Island, famous for its world-class knitters. Tonight, we stay with a host family for an authentic cultural exchange.
We travel the scenic “Ruta del Sol” toward Cusco. Key stops include the La Raya Pass, the towering Inca temple of Raqchi, and the “Sistine Chapel of the Americas” in Andahuaylillas.
An afternoon guided tour of Cusco’s blend of Inca and Spanish heritage. We visit the Qorikancha (Sun Temple) and the massive archaeological sites of Sacsayhuamán, Q’enqo, and Tambomachay.
We descend into the Sacred Valley to explore the Pisac market and its mountain-top ruins. In the afternoon, we explore the living Inca town of Ollantaytambo and its formidable fortress.
A scenic morning train ride takes us to Aguas Calientes, followed by a 2-hour guided exploration of the Machu Picchu citadel. We return to Cusco by train in the evening.
After a final Andean breakfast, we provide a private transfer to the Cusco airport for your flight out.
The homestay on Lake Titicaca is an authentic, rustic experience. While facilities are basic, the hospitality is world-class, providing a unique insight into the Quechua way of life that a hotel cannot offer.
Our route is designed for gradual acclimatization, moving from Arequipa (2,300m) to Puno (3,800m) and finally Cusco (3,400m). We provide oxygen on our transport and our guides are experts in managing altitude symptoms.
