Itinerary
Day 1: The River Portal – Canopy Walk & Monkey Island
Your journey begins with a motorized canoe transfer from Puerto Maldonado. As we navigate the Madre de Dios River, the urban world fades, replaced by the dense emerald walls of the Tambopata. After settling into your lodge and enjoying a local lunch, we head to the canopy.
- The Experience: Walk among the clouds on a canopy bridge and glide through the foliage on a zipline.
- Afternoon: Transition to the water for a kayaking session toward Monkey Island. Observe various primate species in their natural habitat.
- Evening: As dusk falls, we patrol the riverbanks by boat, using lanterns to catch the “red glow” of caiman eyes and spotting nightjars.
- Stats: Includes Lunch & Dinner.
Day 2: The Heart of the Reserve – Lake Sandoval & The Night Shift
After an early breakfast, we enter the core of the Tambopata National Reserve. A guided trek through primary forest leads us to the hidden shores of Lake Sandoval.
- The Experience: We board a traditional wooden canoe to explore the lake’s edges. Look for the ripples of the rare giant river otter and the prehistoric silhouettes of black caimans.
- Afternoon: After a lakeside picnic lunch, we return to the lodge to rest before the sun sets.
- Evening: Armed with flashlights, we venture into the bush for a night hike. This is the time to spot tarantulas, colorful tree frogs, and the fascinating insects that only emerge in the dark.
- Stats: Includes Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 3: The Clay Lick Symphony & Departure
Our final morning starts before dawn to catch the Amazon’s most iconic event: the Macaw Clay Lick.
- The Experience: From a camouflaged vantage point, watch as waves of scarlet macaws and parakeets descend upon the mineral-rich cliffs. The sound and color are unmatched anywhere else on Earth.
- Afternoon: After a final jungle lunch, we navigate back to Puerto Maldonado (arriving mid-afternoon) to connect with your flight or next destination.
- Stats: Includes Breakfast & Lunch.
